Now you need to use your imagination here. A PHOTO would be in place of the filigree printing on the outside. You could also eliminate the tab on the front. The card overlaps about 1/2" - but it could line up like you wanted it to. The inside has one photo in the center, with the writing on the two inside flaps.

This one would cost a lot more to mail (96 cents each) but could be done in a smaller size that would mail for less. The "tab" could be eliminated also. The front could be a color pic, as well as color pics inside. The next post will show the size that would mail for standard postage.

Again - this one is pretty straightforward also. The color in the center was really classy with the writing in white. Gives you one large photo and four smaller ones. Completely blank on the outside - but could add printing for a little more.

This is a pretty straightforward idea - but the thing I liked was how clean it looked - not so cluttered like so many of them are now. The font was really classy too. It gives you room for four photos. Also - takes standard postage.

This one reminded me of the one you liked from Stylart (the wide orientation - but folded differently in a trifold) It allows five photos - all of them large enough to see well. The back side is completely blank. It would not require additional postage because it is a standard size. (Notice how the photo was taken INSIDE instead of outside - at least I think it is?) OK - if you ask ME - this one is my favorite.... But that is your decision!

This one was fun to actually see and HANDLE - different than seeing it online. The only problem is it will take additional postage - not too bad though. It can be printed any color - but I liked the tan/silvery color they used since it went with any color in the photos.

Here is one option that gives you 7 photos and lots of room to write whatever... (your bio?) You would need one LANDSCAPE photo for the background - then the others could be any orientation. The landscape pic is INSIDE. This one has lots of room to add things since it is 2-sided.

Two More Temples... (Preston is next?)

Thought you would want to see how the temple construction is going... I will be really happy when I can figure out a pattern for the Preston Temple. I'm going to have to combine some stuff from the others I have patterns for and hope for some inspiration! Let me know if these even remotely resemble the real structures?

Let's Order These Clouds!

I was browsing through yet ANOTHER photographer's website and found this picture of the JR temple in a winter look. So - let's either pray for a LOT of snow, or NO snow - shall we? Whatever happens, I don't really enjoy the "sepia" tones of the temple in the winter - looks too dreary I think. What do the rest of you suggest? (Maybe we could order these really amazing clouds???)

Here is the "trial" block...

Well - I tried this block with a blue background and it makes it stand out a lot better. (remember this is the first one I've made - that's why the steeple is LEANING... in honor of Lucy in "While You Were Sleeping - j/k) It will also look a lot different when it has a contrasting sash/border around it... Depending on the colors you two decide on - I can change it to anything. Maybe I can do one in each of the four SEASONS (winter - blue with "snowflakes", spring - light green with some kind of "fleck", summer - lighter blue with "clouds", fall - orange/pink with ?) Or a different temple in each of the four corners (Jordan River, Mt. Timpanogos, Salt Lake, Logan - there are patterns for all of those...) Be honest with me - if this isn't your thing, just tell me!

Engagements

I've been looking at some photography blogs trying to come up with ideas for pictures. What I'VE really liked is the backgrounds with some bright color. There's a photographer named Dustin Izatt who has some REALLY cool stuff. With the invitation layout you've chosen here's what I'm envisioning in my head. I think it'll need to have a really bright background to make it pop, so when you unfold it one side isn't just plain. It needs to be a solid, bright background. OR, it needs to be a background with a lot of texture. Maybe like a brick wall, or a wood fence, or SOMETHING that has texture. Does any of that make sense? It's hard to explain, but that's what I'm envisioning in my head. Here are some examples...





The one with the orange wall is Lee Cannon. He was helping a friend practice her photography skills by modeling and doing "fake engagements" with a friend. I asked him where this was taken and he said downtown Logan. I'm going to drive around and see if I can find anywhere that looks something like that... what do you think Melyn and Cameron? What do you guys WANT in a picture? Any ideas you have would be helpful because you might not like my ideas, and this should be something YOU guys want.

Quiltin' Time....
Well it's time to talk QUILTS you two! Melyn - I'm probably not going to make you the same tricot temple quilt that I did for the first two marriages (mainly because my hands can't take it anymore - I will have it machine quilted to save time) But - I want you to give me your opinion of this idea...

I found a block for the Jordan River Temple that is pieced - looks pretty fun actually. I thought I could make four of these and place them on the four corners of a quilt. The inside would be other pieced blocks (just one style of block, or combination of 2-5 different ones) I thought it would look good assembled "on point" - if you don't know what that is, ask me. I could even put TWO different temples on the corners - Jordan River AND Mt. Timpanogos - but that might look too busy.

I'm putting a few ideas for blocks here to get you thinking. (These are NOT the colors they will be in - that's for you to decide - or let me decide if you don't care...) I have a book with over 500 blocks - so it won't matter which you choose. Let me know what you think. But the BIG QUESTION is what COLOR(s) do you want???? (Just so you know - I want to make the JR temple background a blue color, instead of the light green shown in the picture...)

Melyn - Pat (what a great lady!) brought the magazine over that we looked at on Saturday night... It has the pinks that you liked in it - so I scanned it and thought you would want to look at it again. What do you think everyone? Pat also said that IVORY would look good mixed with the pinks...

Ok - after this one, I'm done for today... (I'm getting bug-eyed from staring at the computer) Here is another idea for a fun engagement shot - I like the angle, it seems to make it pop, don't you think? Maybe it was taken at an INSTITUTE BUILDING???

Well - it took a while, but I found (what I hope is the right one) a few pics of Air Force Mess Dress. It looks sharp, huh! I think there are lots of possibilities of colors to go with it.

So here are a few different flowers that might be fun. I like the "airy" light green fillers used in the top left example - they almost look related to hydrangeas? There are lots of pinks here - in lots of different varieties...

I would love my wedding colors to be light pink gerbera daisies and black. What would you suggest I do to accent the black? Is there a pretty flower that I could use?

There are lots of specific varieties of gerber daisies and some come with black centers...Order up exactly those varieties and you will be good to go. Some of those varieties in light pink are...Artistique, Marmara, and Jasenya. If you like a more hot shade look at Malibu, Britttani, Temptation, Oloila, Shirley and Serena. I wouldn't worry too much about black accents in your church. For the reception you might like black tablecloths, napkins or ribbon accents to be incorporated into the design. Banding centerpiece vases can look really great. Also use black for placecards, favors and other visual cues. Maybe even a cake accent like black dots or a ribbon band might be something to consider. I don't know why - but Hydrangeas are so fun to me...(the flower on the left - that is SUPPOSED to bloom in our front yard, but only does it's thing every other year!) You can get them in any color scheme. Maybe they might be elegant on the tables for centerpieces in a cute pot or container? If they are LIVE potted flowers, you could give them to those who have helped with your wedding...
